Speech

Don’t we all love seeing those lambs springing around in the paddock. Imagine if that disappeared and we were only left with the concrete jungles of cities. I believe that we should have more farmland than city because farming provides food, jobs and conservation of our environment

Farming feeds the world. Without farming there will be no bread, vegetables, meat, or fruit. All food comes off farms in some way - even your McDonald’s starts as a product from farms. Farming makes our food production sustainable and allows us to feed our growing populations.

Farming provides jobs. You know what jobs are like in the city boring, slow and inside. when you work on the farm you get fresh air and free cups of tea. These are some interesting jobs that you will find on the farm, a farm manager, farm worker, vet, shearer, fencer, cook, apple picker you can decide all it takes is passion and hard work.
Did you know that farming helps support the New Zealand economy it creates a lot of diverse businesses from irrigation, farm advisers, contractors and food scientists.

A lot of today's farmers are working hard to protect our environment by planting trees protecting waterways and monitoring  the nitrate leaching.
What better way to help control pests than going for a night shoot with your mates, helping to maintain an even balance between pest control and production which in turn provides better pasture growth and tree rejuvenation.

I’m passionate about farming because it provides food for people, jobs for people and conservation of our environment I want our country to be city free. Let’s use our environment in the best way possible.
