Camp

A few weeks ago I went on a amazing school camp at Orton

Bradley park. First thing we did was high ropes. Before we

got to high ropes I went for a walk through the creek. When

we got to high ropes I did the giant ladder then the flying

kiwi at the flying kiwi I got buckled up to the b-lay team.

Finally it was my turn. When you are the kiwi you walk back

to a cone then run as fast as you can until you go flying in

the air. When I came down I hit the ground so hard I got

ground shock. The safety gear that you needed was:

helmet,harness and ropes.

Burnham dawn service

On Saturday 25th-April it was an early morning start for my family and I. We headed to Burnham army base for the Anzac dawn service. The morning was warm and dark. It felt like I was in war as there were lot's of soldiers greeting people as they came in the gate. The lone man was standing silently on top of the water tower. Then he started playing the bagpipes. Then there was a loud bang it was the cannon. When the bang went off the trees went flying back. Then burnham school did a performance. Then the soldiers lay the wreaths of all the dead. We all sung the national anthem and had a minute silence.

Duck shooting

Duck shooting
On Saturday dad and I went to dad's cousin's farm at kaituna valley to go duck shooting. We had to get up at 5:30 am to go shooting the day was wet and cold perfect for duck shooting. When we got there it was dark so we got into the maimai then dad and Ray loaded the guns up ready for the shoot. While we were waiting we saw a massive flash in the sky it lit the whole countryside up we didn't know what it was. At 7:00 am. The sky was light enough to shoot the ducks. The first two ducks were coming in hot so only a semi automatic gun could shoot them and Ray was the only one that shot the two ducks. The maimai had a couch so we sat down and waited for the next mob. After 10 minutes there was a mob of 15 ducks. Guns going bang empty shells going everywhere ducks falling out of the sky like hail stones they managed to hit about 6 ducks then we waited for the next mob to come in. So we practiced our duck calling it worked the next ducks were on there way dad and Ray loaded up and started shooting. More ducks fall out of the sky it was great fun. After there was no ducks, we went and collected them from the pond. All counted we got 12 not to bad for a morning shoot. Then we went back to the shed and plucked them. Then at 10:00 am we went home. On the way home we found out what the flash was. It was a power transformer that exploded. That night mum cooked the ducks for tea they were so good!!!
